TIPS

Your Next Steps.
Select Your Funeral Home

Once the proper authorities have given you the task of arranging the transportation of your loved, you will need to call your selected mortuary, also known as a funeral home, or a crematory. Funeral Homes, mortuaries and crematories are prepared to provide this service at any time, day or night.

Gather Vital Information and Documents

If you are not the legal next-of-kin, you will need to provide a Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care or similar. Some of the information you will need to know to start the process is your loved one's date of birth, place of birth, Social Security No., Parents names and their place of birth.

Select your Cemetery

Once you have selected your funeral home, you will need to select the disposition

(primarily, the options are cremation or full body burial) and you will need to know the final resting place, typically the name and address of the cemetery you've chosen.
